about

Note: The recordings on this collection are dynamic and frequently feature minute auditory details. Thus, the Bandcamp streaming previews may sound slightly more distorted than the actual recordings. For best results, please enjoy this release using headphones and downloading the HQ versions of the tracks.

This is the second volume of "Archival", featuring a recently remastered version of the 2011 John Lithium album "Insomnia" (except for the final track, which did not have an original project file or archived resources to make a good remaster from), three compilation tracks from 2011 and 2012 in their unreleased original forms, a number of rarities from 2011 that were never remixed into other tracks/albums, along with a number of recent experiments and expressions from 2015. The purpose of this release is to serve as a time capsule of my musical endeavors, in addition to providing possible glimpses into the future...

The "Insomnia" remaster was a project I had in mind for a while, but only now has it finally been completed. While every effort was made to polish up some rough areas, the recordings were always meant to be rough around the edges, and slightly flawed (in the same manner that the musician who made them). It is up to the listener to determine which auditory imperfections are intentional. However, revisiting these recordings allowed to bring out some minute details previously buried in the mix. "Insomnia" remains a late-night experience best experienced with headphones, an examination of the effects of chronic sleep deprivation, severe depression, melancholic surrealism, and just the slightest ray of hope...

"Weapon Euphoria", "Logic Is Lonely", and "Dark Times" are all compilations, presented here for the first time without the ephemeral samples which originally were included in the mix. These tracks were originally created within very specific thematic frameworks, so it (in my opinion) is interesting to see these pieces exist outside their original contexts, inviting new interpretations and emotions...

"Conversation Of Dialogue", "Unsee", "08202011", and "Sand" are all B-sides from 2011 sessions. These fragments are mainly presented here for utilization by other musicians.
"Cheer Up", "Losing My Charm", and "The Drive" are all short 'concept works' continuing my musical work themed around the classic noir film DOA. A strange sort of industrial dub. The possibillity exists for these works to be expanded upon or mutated in the future. "Inexpressible Island" is a pseudo-minimalist piano piece, one in a series I hope to record/release in the near future. 2:22 AM was recorded around 2:22 AM.
